The Horticulture Camera consolidates everything you see here into one streamlined system with one intuitive interface.

I love and personally own all of these great products, and they work very well. But after connecting everything together, I realized I had created a hodgepodge setup filled with wires, cables, timers, separate interfaces, and smart applications that don’t communicate with one another. That’s the problem I set out to solve. The Horticulture Camera Grow System consolidates and streamlines these functions into one integrated system with one intuitive interface and remote app control—giving growers a simpler, cleaner, and more connected way to monitor, automate, and control their environment from virtually anywhere.

In early 2025, this is what my setup looked like using some of the most advanced equipment available at the time. What you see is a collection of separate controllers, timers, sensors, switches, cameras, and other devices that had to be connected—often with devices plugged into other devices and components daisy-chained together. I was also using multiple types of cameras, including security cameras and dedicated time-lapse cameras, each with its own app and interface. The result was a complicated control board surrounded by wires, with many components operating independently and unable to communicate with one another. Some devices required separate applications, while others had no remote application at all. To understand what was happening while I was away, I built a physical control board and aimed a security camera directly at it so I could remotely monitor the different displays, switches, and equipment from a single view. Since then, there has been significant development in smart controllers from companies such as AC Infinity, Vivosun, Mars Hydro, and Spider Farmer. When compared with The Horticulture Camera Grow System, you’ll notice that these systems still rely on a web of interconnected wires and separate components. In my view, aspects of these configurations reflect efforts to design around existing patent designs that I own. These systems also do not provide certain capabilities covered by my approach, including wattage tracking combined with synchronized time-lapse environmental data playback. These two images illustrate just how fragmented and complicated managing a modern grow environment could become, even when using state-of-the-art equipment. They also provide useful context for understanding how grow-control technology has evolved since then—and the problem The Horticulture Camera Grow System was designed to solve.

How will AI be used with the THC Grow system?

Home Page
The Horticulture Camera uses AI and time-lapse photography to create a continuous timeline connecting plant development with soil, water, atmospheric, lighting, nutrient, and other monitored conditions. AI analyzes the imagery frame by frame, looking for developing signs of nutrient deficiencies or excesses in leaves, stems, and roots while considering the specific plant species, growth stage, and nutrients being used. At the same time, it evaluates environmental data to identify conditions such as insufficient airflow, improper temperature or humidity, inadequate nutrition, and insufficient or excessive light. The system can also help take the guesswork out of nutrient management. Based on the nutrients selected by the grower, AI can calculate combined N-P-K values and evaluate how multiple nutrients work together as part of a feeding program. Using the grower’s water volume, plant species, growth stage, and selected nutrient products, the system can calculate how much of each nutrient to use and help the operator understand the overall nutrient profile being delivered to the plants. More importantly, the system is designed to teach. Based on the nutrients being used and the species being grown, AI can show growers what nutrient deficiencies or excesses to watch for, provide visual examples of how those conditions may appear in the plant, and explain how different nutrients can affect different species and stages of development. The Horticulture Camera then uses its camera lenses, AI analysis, and synchronized time-lapse photography to continuously look for these developing visual indicators. If signs consistent with a potential nutrient deficiency or other problem are detected, the system can alert the operator and identify what conditions may need attention. By connecting what the camera sees with nutrient inputs and environmental sensor data, the system creates a teachable record of cause and effect throughout the plant’s development. It doesn’t just tell growers when something may be wrong—it helps teach them why it may be happening, what to look for, and how different nutrients and environmental conditions affect different species of plants over time.
